There’s nothing I love more than waking up to sunshine, feeling the heat on your skin, smelling the mix of sun cream and chlorine from the pool and knowing full well you get to spend the whole day relaxing. It feels like such a treat to wipe anything typically seen as productive off the to-do list, and that’s exactly what I got to do a few weeks ago.
Earlier in October, me and my mum travelled to Crete with Jet2 (yes, I’m still pinching myself). Getting to travel again and see somewhere new felt even more incredible after so much time at home. Without meaning to, I ended up reflecting a lot on the year, and how I want the next few months to look. It was the mini reset I didn’t realise I needed! If you’re considering traveling, or thinking of going to Crete with Jet2, here’s my experience, where we stayed, and how I found the trip overall.
The Flight from Manchester To Crete
We flew with Jet2 from Manchester. Yes there’s a few additional steps needed to travel in and out of the UK, but nothing that doesn’t make it worth going on holiday for me (I even think it’s worth it for a 3-4 day trip like I did). I’m not going to share exactly what we had to do because I know the guidelines change. One thing I will say is that it was so easy to find the relevant information with Jet2, there wasn’t a single point where I felt unsure of what to do.
Something that helped make the whole process stress free was the communications from Jet2, they have an app for boarding passes and reservations that sends text reminders and travel updates. It was honestly a breeze. If you’ve been considering a trip away but worried it would be too much faff, I think you may be proved wrong.
The Jet2 flight to Crete was around 4 hours, which felt completely manageable to me. There’s also the option to have extra leg room on the flight which makes the whole experience feel even more comfortable. Also shout out to the lovely staff, everyone I spoke to at check in and on the plane were so friendly and helpful. It was just a really nice experience which set the tone for the rest of the holiday.
If you’re a fellow North West dweller then all Jet2holidays from Manchester Airport now fly out from Terminal 2. It’s had a complete makeover and now has a Wagamamas and San Carlos, along with the usual duty free shopping (which is obviously where my holiday starts!)
Package Holidays…
It was a full package holiday to Crete, so the flight, transfers to and from the hotel and hotel stay were all booked and organised through Jet2. If you’re wanting a quick and easy way to book a holiday, you cannot go wrong with a package. I’ve been on a few package holidays before, and breaks where you organise everything yourself. I find package holidays to be the most fuss free way to travel. It just saves you the time and effort of having to organise everything individually. Also worth mentioning it’s not just Crete where you can fly with Jet2.com, you can travel to so many parts of Greece.
The Enorme Maya Beach Hotel with Jet2holidays
We stayed at the absolutely beautiful Enorme Hotel in Heraklion. As soon as we saw this hotel online it was an easy pick for us. It’s only 30 minutes from the airport making the transfer super quick (definitely worth looking at this, especially for shorter stays). It’s an adults only hotel so it has a really relaxing vibe, and it’s right by the sea so we had the most beautiful views. We got into the habit of having a morning stroll along the front, easily my favourite morning walk spot ever.
When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of prosecco which was a really nice touch. With it being right on the front, they have really beautiful rooms with amazing sea views. A big thing for me on holiday is food, it’s part of the experience. Happy to confirm the food at The Enrome Hotel was also great. It’s half board, so we often ate a big breakfast, had a light lunch then a bigger dinner. Despite only being half board, you can order food from the pool side that’s absolutely delicious (the falafel wrap was my go to). There were really good options to cover all dietary requirements, I’m a vegetarian and found there was always more than enough choice.
The only thing on our agenda was to simply relax. Two things I took advantage of at the hotel was the yoga and swimming pool. The yoga was at sun down making it the most perfect setting to relax. They also offer a free 15 minute massage, which for a day by the pool topped the relaxing vibe off the charts, it felt incredible.
I hope if you’re thinking of traveling this winter that this post has been helpful. Jet2holidays has some amazing holiday late deals is the perfect place to check to grab a last minute bargain.
This trip really did feel like exactly what I needed. I’m already thinking about a little break over Christmas knowing how easy the process has been.
