Firstly, how are we all getting on?
I’m currently at my parents house and going absolutely against my intentions of not having easy access to biscuits while I work from home…
I want to send so much love to anyone reading this. So many people (and myself) even in my close circle have been massively impacted already by what’s happening. It’s real and it’s scary. In the UK we’re likely to be facing much more in the coming weeks and months, and I really want to commit to sharing content that’s positive and uplifting, to hopefully help us all out. Plus, I’m definitely not a skilled reporter, so it’s the least I can do rather than try and be a news outlet.
Last year I realised the importance of seeking out what makes me feel good (that sounds so obvious writing it down, but stay with my folks), and being disciplined enough to avoid what doesn’t. I had to step up my awareness and really tune into how certain things were making me feel. I swapped documentaries on serial killers for funny, lighthearted tv shows. I read positive news articles instead of the side bar of shame on the Daily Mail. They sound like small changes but collectively they make a huge difference.
I wanted to do one post listing some of my favourite positive influences out there. You all know I’m pretty big on the law of attraction, and now more than ever it’s really important to surround yourself with positivity. I’ve written about my favourite self-help books before in but in a more general way, this is focused on the things that make me feel good – and I hope they have the same effect on your too.
Positive People to Follow on Instagram
I think this is going to be so different for everyone, I follow a lot of fashion and beauty accounts but I’ve loved how positive and creative people have got since working from home. If you are following anyone on Instagram at the moment who doesn’t make you feel good – unfollow them. We’re going to have more time than ever scrolling through our phones and have the want to stay connected, and if you don’t like what you see it’s time to mute/ unfollow.
I do want to give a quick shout out to Lucy Sheridan here, if you’ve followed me for a while you’ll already know I continually share her posts. She’s so positive and I’ve noticed she’s sharing a really realistic advise on how to stay positive and continue working towards goals in a mindful way – she’s such a babe!
Positive Podcasts to Listen to
This is brand new and only on episode two, but Roxie Nafousi seems to have such a positive energy and you can’t help but feel good listening to it. Definitely one to subscribe to.
I’ve listened to Sophie’s podcast for a while now, she shares so many practical tips on how to be more positive and live a more joyful life. They are shorter episodes but I often find myself thinking about them a lot after, and how I can apply the advice she has given to my own life.
Not strictly a podcast centred around positivity, but it’s lighthearted, easy to listen to and every episode tends to make me smile. A positive of working from home is that other drivers don’t see me smiling at what looks like myself on my commute to work…
I would say this podcast is a good’un if you’ve got a bit of a background in law of attraction. If you’re open to knowing more and really want to start thinking and living by the law of attraction then it’s definitely worth listening (and going right back to the first episodes). Jennifer Bailey also has an amazing website jennifer365.com, there’s so many good blog posts and book recommendations on there too.
The latest episode of The Fringe of It focused on finding little pockets of joy in what is currently a pretty difficult time, and it was just what I needed. Charlotte and Liv ALWAYS (caps lock essential) have the best recommendations when it comes to TV and entertainment, which I’ll definitely be indulging in more over the next few weeks.
There’s something so inspiring about hearing people who have overcome adversity or trauma and found positivity in their lives, and that’s essentially what Alice’s podcast focuses on. It’s really inspiring and a nice reminder that with the right people around you and mindset, you can achieve absolutely anything you want to.
Positive Books/ Magazines to Read
Amazingly you don’t even have to leave this house for this and it’s free to download digitally, winning! This is the only magazine I read now and it’s always packed full of helpful tips. Writing this I’m already craving this weekend to make the perfect brew, get cosy with the dogs and have a couple of hours reading the latest edition.
