A Round Up of Favourites from 2019.

Happy New Years Eve! A new decade is a matter of hours away (if you’re reading this today). Who’s with me that yet again another year has flown by?!

A favourites post is definitely overdue, and there’s no better day of the year to attempt to cram everything into one. This is the best of the best from 2019, including style favourite, books, beauty and podcasts. Grab a left over Christmas chocolate or two, this may take a while!

PODCASTS

I’m well and truly on the podcast bandwagon, my love for them this year hasn’t faded. I easily listen to one a day and can’t imagine not having them as part of my morning routine. Especially living alone they’re a non-boring, entertaining or educational fix that works well as background noise. There’s a few that stand out as absolute favourites this past year.

The High Low – Dolly Alderton & Pandora Sykes | Happy Place – Fearne Cotton | Practical Positivity – Sophie Cliff | Today in Focus – The Guardian | The Estee Lalonde Show | My Dad Wrote a Porno

STYLE

I’ve just got back from Copenhagen (seriously, how does everyone still look so chic when it’s freezing?) and I’m feeling so inspired by Nordic style and minimal dressing. Shopping consciously and really thinking about my purchases has been important to me for the past few years. I’m moving towards buying staples that will *hopefully last for years, stand the test of time and give me the paired back, scandi look I seem to feel most like me wearing. If they’re still available online, I’ve linked to my fashion favourites this year below. My favourite coat this winter seasons from Crew is half price on sale here!

NON FICTION BOOKS

Can you believe it’s taken me all these years to finally fall in love with reading? Around 6 months ago I slowly started to find myself reaching for books, and now I’m hooked. I’m a bit of a busy body and never used to find the time to just sit and read, but now I’m cramming in a quick read at any chance I have. Sticking with non-fiction at the moment because I’m really enjoying catching up on some gems I’ve let pass me by the past few years. I’m still trying to find the work/life balance and read more and not feel a twinge of guilt for it! Anyway, here’s the books I’ve loved this year.

Reasons to Stay Alive – Matt Haig | Notes on a Nervous Planet – Matt Haig | An Edited Life – Anna Newton | This is Going to Hurt – Adam Kay | Unnatural Causes – Richard Shepherd

FITNESS & WELL-BEING

For years I’ve deliberated whether to share more fitness related content. Exercise for me sparks joy (as Marie Kondo would say), so it definitely deserves a wee spot in this post. Yes, it’s a pain to actually get to the gym, or even set up at home, but post workout I really notice the difference. It’s improved my physical and mental health, and really helped me to set up a routine when I needed it most. This year I’ve started doing yoga or pilates in the morning, and I gravitate towards Yoga with Adriene, if you’re looking to try yoga at home in the new year her videos are amazing!

BEAUTY

It’s mostly re-discoveries for beauty related products this year. I’m still a massive beauty hoarder and want to get back into sharing more beauty content on my blog in 2020. Here’s the products I’ve discovered (and re-discovered) this year that are bloody brilliant.

Congratulations if you made it to the end of this mammoth post, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let me know your favourites for this year in the comments.
