Five Good Things.

I thought I would go old school and write a blog post the night before posting it, next to no editing, just a wee catch up to bring you guys up to speed with where I’m at. I can’t take credit for the ‘five good things’ idea, it was KateLaVie who inspired me with this format rather than just a generic life update, you all know I’m very much into the positive vibes! Here’s a few (well, five) pretty good things that I’m loving, completely grateful for and looking forward to at the moment…

1

Can’t remember for the life of me if I’ve mentioned this, but this time next week I’ll be packing my suitcase ready for 5 days away in Dubai with 3 of my closest friends. EEEEEEEEEEKKKK! Apart from my hen do I haven’t had a girls holiday since a boozy Ibiza trip when I was 17 (yes I thought I was the coolest person ever) so to have 5 whole days with friends I barely get to see is honestly the dream. I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of alcohol consumption so I may be a little quiet on social media while I’m away… Might do a recap on my stories when I return!

I’ve finally got into reading. It’s taken 24 years but I’m FINALLY there. Usually the idea of sitting down to read just isn’t my cup of tea, but recently I’ve become completely immersed in them. The past few months I’ve learnt more about the style of books I enjoy, anything based on a true story or a memoir of someone fascinating and I’m completely hooked. I definitely need to broaden my horizons as I’m sure there’s so much more I’d like, but for now it’s just been lovely to get into reading for the first time ever. I just love how lost you can get into books and just forget about everything else. Some of my current favourites have been Sapiens and Unnatural Causes.

Endorphins, the main thing that’s making me feel so good at the moment. Veryyyyy grateful for my gym membership and how good exercise makes me feel. I rarely speak about it because I don’t know how in a way that’s useful and doesn’t make me sound like that knob that brags about going to the gym everyday, but it’s a big part of my life. Not being able to exercise earlier this year made me realise how powerful endorphins actually are. It brings me so much mental clarity and I’ve started to notice just how happy I feel post exercise. I don’t have a strict routine but I find I eat better, sleep better and overall just feel better for getting a good workout in.

I’m in limbo with my content at the moment, this seems to happen once a year where I re-evaluate everything and seem to be quite critical of what I’m doing – which I’m trying to spin off as a good thing because ultimately it is. I really want to find the balance between sharing lifestyle content, talking about wellbeing but then also dedicating the odd blog post to beauty or style. I really enjoy it when others share a mix of content so I think I just need to remind myself of that when it comes to doing my own thing. The lifestyle and well-being related content is something I”m really enjoying putting together, it takes away that constant product promotion and emphasis on consumption which I felt like my blog had slipped in to. What do you guys think, do you have a preference?

The big C is just around the corner, and I’ll be honest, the thought of being able to drive home and sing along to Chris Rea for the majority of the journey fills me with excitement. I’ll have two whole weeks with family and friends and a little trip to Copenhagen inbetween. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year so please brace yourselves for all the Christmas content from me this year!

And that’s it, five things that are making me feel pretty good at the moment. What’s on your good things list at the moment?

I never used to believe the exercise junkies before I started working out myself and now if I miss a couple of days, I really feel the difference. Who knew they were right all along? My weekend’s turned into a bit of a damp squib with the annual fireworks party being postponed due to a waterlogged cricket pitch and the psychic I was going to see on Sunday evening cancelling his slot. Boo.
