Glamping in Barmouth, North West Wales

This past year I’ve been trying to do more to live in the moment and be mindful, and I thought glamping would do just the thing… Granted, I’m not the kinda girl to do more than 2 nights in a breeze, but spending the evening glamping in West Wales a couple of weeks ago was just what I needed. I hit refresh, spent longer than 30 minutes without looking at my phone and to put it simply just had a really lovely time soaking up the moment.

If you’re a regular reader you won’t be surprised to hear we booked the camping stay through Airbnb. It was £50 a night, had a hot tub and to be honest I think we had the best view in Barmouth overlooking Mawddach Estuary. This was my first time camping outside of a festival situation, and as an adult, so I’ve got some learning to do for next time (note to self, take a sleeping bag with a zip that works). Small failures aside, I had the best night away and it’s opened my eyes to this whole camping thing. We had drinks in the hot tub, toasted marshmallows and sat around the fire chatting until it went dark.

Another thing I loved about this stay was the ease of it all. We didn’t have to faff with our own tent, everything we needed to cook a BBQ for dinner was already there, and there was complimentary coffee in the morning (winning). I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but it was kind of fun! Ok, I have to be honest, we definitely eased our way into camping with this one, my mum and step dad only live an hour and a half away so when it was tipping it down in the morning we were able to just jump in the car and head back home, but having stayed here once I’m already excited to go back again. I didn’t actually plan on writing a blog post about our stay (hence the shoddy phone photos) but it felt like too much of a good find not to share.

Growing up in Wales I’m definitely biased, but if you haven’t visited the coastline or Snowdonia then I can’t recommend it enough. I think because I’ve moved away I almost see going home as a holiday now, there’s so much to do which I just didn’t appreciate when I had it on my door step. Less than an hour away from Barmouth there’s Surf Snowdonia and Zip World,  I ended up doing the Zip Safari and it was amazing, slightly terrifying at the same time (not the biggest fan of heights), but still something I’ll definitely be doing again soon.

So, in a nutshell, I’m a camping convert, North West Wales is beautiful and now I’m off to order a new sleeping bag…

This looks so dreamy, I’m not really a camper but this looks like something I’d be down for – the view is gorgeous too!
