Spring is my favourite season for pretty much everything – I love the lighter mornings, dewy fresh makeup, and not to mention the 4 day Easter weekend!
My makeup definitely changes as the weather starts to warm up, and all in all I make a little more effort. Here are some of my current staples that have already crept into my routine.
The most recent purchase of the bunch is the Glossier priming moisturiser – yes I’m about to praise another Glossier product, can they do anything wrong!? This is another thing I’m adding to the list of products I’ve fallen in love with from them. I wasn’t sure whether to include this at first as it’s on the border between skincare and makeup, but it’s the perfect pre makeup base adding hydration and a subtle glow to the skin, and it helps my foundation blend flawlessly. It claims to have an anti-redness complex which I definitely agree with, and it’s helping me achieve that fresh, dewy looking skin vibe.
I’m not quite ready to part ways with a medium/ full coverage base just yet, but I’ve found a good inbetween to be the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. Having combination skin usually the word “luminous” in a foundation is when alarm bells start to ring, but this is different. It’s light, adds a good amount of coverage and gives my skin a naturally flawless finish – plus it lasts on my skin so well throughout the day which is a bonus.
For highlight I’ve been using the Benefit Whatts Up! Highlighter. WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE!? This is the most beautiful cream highligher I’ve ever used. It looks natural as it almost melts into the skin, but leaves a good amount of glow at the same time. I apply and blend it out using a damp beauty blender and the combination is perfect, it doesn’t interfer with my foundation or any products underneath – basically it ticks all the boxes. This is definitely a step in my routine that I’m sure will be carried through to the summer months. For eyes in the winter I rarely bothered with eyeshadow, but I’ve been reaching for the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz so much over the past few weeks. It’s a gorgeous shimmering deep pink/ mauve shade, I just blend it out using a fluffy blending brush and I’m good to go. I have quite oily eyelids and for a cream eyeshadow it lasts a really impressive 7-8 hours on my lids before starting to crease. It’s just nice to do a little something different with my day to day makeup that isn’t too crazy – you know?
Lastly a rediscovery, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes. I used to be obsessed with these and I have more than 10 shades in my collection! Throughout winter they tend to take a backseat as I like to go for something more nourishing but the obsession has started all over again. For a matte lip cream they are so comfortable to wear and the lasting power is just incredible. The shade Cannes is an amazing nude/ coral shade perfect for this time of year, I also love Stockholm which is another flattering nude shade.
