Becoming a More Positive Person.

Ever been called a pessimistic Polly or negative Nancy? I used to get it alllll the time! In response I would argue the fact that really I'm just a realist... Debatable
This year I've definitely started to open up more, and realised that actually you can't sugar coat being a negative person, and there's a huge difference between being a realist and gloomy af. Since the beginning of the year becoming more positive about everything in life is something I've been working on, so I thought I would share a few things that have helped me along the way.

It's my birthday! I'm 23 and for some reason that sounds so much older than 22 to me. This is the first time I feel like a new age number has some significance (apart from when I was 18 and could actually go out without using someone else's id...) anyway. I'm properly, fully getting in my twenties now - you know?

The Morning of Our Wedding.

I thought I would talk you through the morning of our wedding, the getting ready process and how I managed to stay calm - I definitely surprised myself with that last one. I never thought I would treasure the morning as much as I do, which is one of the reasons why I've said to every bride to be I've spoken to, make it as stress free as possible!

The Wedding Day Makeup & Beauty Essentials.

If there's a day your makeup matters the most, it's your wedding day. Even before the dress, my wedding day makeup was something I thought about and researched. Having never had my makeup done professionally before, I really wasn't sure whether to just do it myself. Today I thought I would share the makeup I went for and some other beauty essentials that helped me feel my best on my wedding day.

The Wedding Day Outfits.

If there's one day you'll feel the best you've ever felt, it's your wedding day. Instead of just showing you my dress and doing a whole post on that, I wanted to include absolutely everything I wore, down to the veil, earrings and dressing gown I wore in the morning.

The Wedding Venue & Decor.

Finding the venue was definitely one of the hardest parts of wedding planning, we spent 6 months searching on the internet, looking through magazines and doing visits to find the one. Our wedding was definitely a mix of DIY projects and help from the professionals, which kept costs down but also made everything manageable on the day. Most of the decor I arranged and bought different pieces, some of it was set up by a company and some my husband managed to pull together. In this post I thought I would talk about the venue, decor and our inspiration behind it.

5 Things I Learned Getting Married.

Firstly, welcome to a week of wedding related posts! I'm going to be talking the venue, bridal beauty regime and everything in between, so if you're interested there will be something new at 8am every day this week. I'm kicking off this little series by basically sharing all of the advise that helped me have my dream wedding day, and what I learned getting married myself.

Why Blogging Isn't My Full Time Job.

I don't think anyone could have predicted that a whole industry would be formed out of blogging, YouTube, content creation (whatever you like to call it) - I certainly didn't. At the end of April I was faced with a choice, do I create a full time job out what I do online or do I find another full time role and stick with that for now? As you can tell by the title, I went with the latter, and I thought I would share why...

Making Our House A Home.

When we moved into our home we knew we didn’t have a massive budget to buy all of the dream interior goodies straight away. But actually, after a fair bit of shopping around I feel like we’ve done a pretty good job of finding some affordable ways to achieve a space we love, and definitely feels like home. There are a couple of things that have made a huge difference...

Feeling Like You Don't Fit In.

For as long as I can remember I have felt like I don't always fit in.

Switching To A Capsule Wardrobe.

70% of my wardrobe doesn't get worn, I'll buy something - wear it once - then hang it up. I've got better at getting rid of these items but then I'm left with nothing I love and essentially it's a massive waste of money! I've decided to make a slow switch to a capsule wardrobe. This is really inspired by The Anna Edit, after watching her haul videos and seeing how put together she always looks it's made me realise that actually it's all about quality over quantity, and having things to wear that you love over and over again.

Most Used Makeup - Honeymoon Edition.

I did that thing where you pack as if you're never being reunited with your makeup collection again - in reality I was going on holiday for a week, and spent most of the time wearing a tinted moisturiser and a bit of bronzer!

5 Lifestyle Favourites.

I recently filmed a May favourites, with some beauty and fashion bits, so I thought I would share some lifestyle faves to go with that in a blog post. You know how it works, these are basically 5 things that are a bit too random to include in another post, but I wanted to talk about them anyway!

Becoming More Sociable On Instagram.

This time last year I barely posted photos of myself on Instagram, it was mainly beauty content or something to promote a new blog post, but I quickly found that I actually love posting more about my life, and based on my engagement my followers like it to. Over the past few weeks I've been posting more than ever, I've started being more transparent in my captions, and in general just being more me. Injecting my personality into social media as much as possible, basically, using Instagram in a more social way.

Summer Hair Styling.

Honestly, I'm finally at a point where I'm pretty happy with my hair, and I don't talk about it enough! I've had so many bad experiences with it over the years but I've found exactly what works for me and what I feel comfortable with. Admittedly I'm usually pretty boring, I tend to curl it in the same way then just leave it down, but over the past few months I've been pushing myself to do a little more with it, and actually I'm really enjoying doing something a little different.

My Top 5 Charlotte Tilbury Products.

You guys know I love Charlotte Tilbury, ever since buying one her lipsticks a couple of years ago I was hooked. I would say I've tried most things over the years, so I thought it was about time I finally did a run down of my ultimate favourites.

The Affordable Makeup Collection Worth Trying This Summer.

It seems to be one makeup launch after the other, which is absolutely fine, but definitely hard to keep up with. I used to love collecting makeup but now I tend to stick to what I know (hence the lack of beauty content these days) until I'm completely wowed. L'Oreal sent over some products from their brand new "Woke Up Like This" collection, and I decided it was worth dedicating a whole post to and talk about my faves!

Summer Goals.

Anyone else nosey and like reading other peoples goals? They always motivate me to think about what I want to get done/ achieve over the next few months, then inspires me to get my shit together and formulate a p.o.a. With the wedding and move over I have a couple of smaller goals that I can actually focus on and put some time into, and I'm blooomin' excited about them.

Full Review & Favourites: It Cosmetics.

For months I've been itching to write this post, I feel like the best way to describe It Cosmetics is a step up from Glossier. The packaging isn't wacky, no unicorns or glitter here, and the main aim of the brand is to enhance your natural beauty - but for those of us who need a little more help than a sheer concealer. Remember QVC? Well they're quickly becoming my new best friends stocking Tarte and It Cosmetics, you can buy from there and on Selfridges in the UK, so a little harder to get your hands on but oh boy, it's worth it!

Getting Married, Moving House and New Beginnings.

April really has been the best month of my life - jeeeeze, I feel emotional and we're not even a sentence in... We moved into our home, got married and went on our honeymoon to Mexico.

10 ASOS Spring Style Picks.

Hi I'm Jodie, a self confessed ASOS addict.

Lets Talk Bridal Shoes.

When it came to my wedding shoes I was torn, the main dilemma being whether I go high end or find a more affordable option. I had a certain style in mind, and of-course they had to be comfortable. I've noticed last year and especially this year a lot of my favourite high street stores are bringing out their own bridal accessorise and wedding shoes. Today I wanted to share the shoes I'll be wearing on my wedding day and some other options I love and think make beautiful wedding shoes for the special day - without breaking the bank!

5 Spring Makeup Staples.

Spring is my favourite season for pretty much everything - I love the lighter mornings, dewy fresh makeup, and not to mention the 4 day Easter weekend!

The Nuxe Aquabella Range.

If you have combination skin you know the struggle when it comes to finding products that suit your skins needs - it was the bane of my routine for so long!

Embracing Change and Managing Stress.

A personal goal for this year was - in short - to start looking on the bright side of life. I knew 2018 was going to be eventful, and instead of dreading the huge changes and feeling overwhelmed I wanted to feel excited and optimistic about my future. I know it comes so naturally for some, but for me it really doesn't - I can't be alone in this? I wanted to share how I've been feeling and how I've managed the stress of it all, and actually tried to embrace the change and feel positive about uncertainty, having options, and what's to come.

My Most Worn Lipsticks.

Lipsticks are definitely the one beauty product I have most of in my collection. I would say there's over 30 (that's post clear out) that I have to choose from *currently praying Jay doesn't realise when I move in with him* here are my most used that I reach for regularly...

10 Last Minute Mothers Day Gifts.

When it comes to Christmas and birthdays I'm super organised, but for some reason anything else and I usually leave things a little last minute - then panic and go into meltdown every time!

4 Things I'm Looking Forward To This Spring.

There's snow outside, it's -5 and I've never felt more ready for spring and what's to come over the next few months! I have so much going on and I thought I would bring you up to speed and share 5 things I'm looking forward to in particular...

4 Skincare Products To Try.

There's nothing I love more than discovering a new product that's absolutely amazing, especially when it's skincare!

5 Changes I'm Making To My Instagram.

Instagram has been a hot topic for a while now, I feel like everyone has a different experience and different things seem to work for different people. Over the past few weeks I've made a couple of changes and I'm planning on making a few more too, so I thought I would share those in a post!

Last Minute Wedding Prep

This is going to be my last pre wedding blog post - eeek! With less than 2 months to go I thought I would share how my current to do list is looking, how I'm feeling and let you know all of the last minute things I have planned.

How I Cleared My Skin From The Worst Breakout Ever.

Until you have bad skin yourself you don't realise just how much of a negative impact it can have on your confidence. I would wake up every morning and one of the first things I would do is touch my skin to see if I had another new breakout, it actually makes me so sad when I think about how much of an impact it had!

5 Random Things That Make Me Happy.

With the cold weather showing no sign of going just yet - sigh - I thought I would share a 'lifestyle' post and chat about 5 random things that make me happy...

How I Got Better At Saving Money

I haven't always been good at saving, whilst a student I was definitely the irresponsible one always in Boots shopping the 3for2 makeup I didn't need...

5 Winter Pamper Picks.

During the winter months there is nothing I love more than a good pamper!

Honeymoon Haul & Wishlist.

With the combination of payday, January blues and my honeymoon coming up, I decided to treat myself to a little ASOS haul.

Wedding Day Makeup Inspiration.

After booking the venue my next priority was to find a makeup artist that I trusted with my wedding day makeup.

I'm Moving! & Interior Wishlist.

At the end of April I'm officially moving out!

5 Things I Wish I Did When I Started Blogging

Blogging has managed to become a massive part of my life, not a day goes by when I don't work on it - whether I'm writing a post, replying to emails, taking photos or planning content.

5 Long Lasting, Full Coverage Foundations.

Some days just call for a long lasting, full coverage foundation.

Content Creators Who Inspire Me

I thought it was about time I did another post like this and shared the love for some of my favourite online content creators.

Four To Try

I flippin' love doing 4 To Try posts so I've decided to bring them back! I like the idea of being able to talk about more random products in my beauty routine that would probably get left behind without these posts...

A lovely product I've barely spoken about that definitely deserves a mention is the ByTerry Ombre Blackstart in Frozen Quartz. It's a pigmented stick eyeshadow that's the perfect balance between creamy and smooth. It leaves a soft, shimmering shadow behind that can be left rich in colour or blended for a more subtle finish. The shade Frozen Quartz is a soft sparkling pink, one of my favourites for spring. Also - how gorgeous and insta worthy is the packaging!?

Another gem that my eye makeup routine thanks me for is the Urban Decay Primer Potion, it's the only primer that keeps my eyeshadow in place! I recently had my wedding makeup trial, the MAC paint pot in soft ochre was used and that just wasn't enough for my oily eyelids! It made me realise how amazing the primer potion is at not only keeping eyeshadows in place but making them appear more vibrant.

My final makeup pick is the Iconic London Illuminator in Shine*. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful highlighters I've ever used. I don't go mad with this like those Instagram videos you see, I just apply a small amount (by small I mean tiny) to the top of my cheek bones, a little on my nose and below the brow too, then blend it out with a damp beauty blender. Considering how pigmented this looks at first, once blended it leaves a beautiful, lit from within look. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it in summer and on my honeymoon - eek!
A skincare product that's quickly become a holy grail in my routine is the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. If you follow me on Instagram or twitter or watch my vlogs you'll know I was complaining about breakouts before Christmas, thank fully they have pretty much cleared and the drying lotion has been a massive help. I apply this in the evening to any blemishes that are raised and by the morning they have either gone completely or are on their way to healing. As you only apply this directly to the blemish the rest of your skin is clear, and I haven't experienced any dryness what so ever. If you suffer from breakouts then I highly recommend using this to clear them up fast.

So, they're four things I thought were worthy of a mention in this post...
