Keeping Motivated During The Winter Months

When it comes to the winter months I definitely become a little demotivated, all I want to do is be cosy and, to be honest, a little lazy…
Over the past month I’ve been trying to adjust to the shorter days and cold weather, I’m a summer baby and it just doesn’t come naturally to me to feel my best in the winter months. Here are some the things that have helped me stay motivated so far this autumn/ winter.

Getting into a routine
Routine is everything for me, I feel good when I know what I’m doing and it helps me stay motivated. I have certain times of the day that I like to do things and it definitely helps with productivity too. An example is my photography, it’s becoming so much harder to take photos with the shorter days, so now I take them in the mornings at the weekend. Having my photos ready for the week gives me the motivation to post. If you’re lacking in motivation to blog then I would seriously recommend doing this, it’s helped me massively.

Have a pamper/ feel my best
If in doubt, make yourself feel amazing! When I look my best, I also feel my best and with a boost of positivity I feel motivated and determined to crack on with everything. In the Black Friday sales (sorry to bring those up again) I treated myself to some new workout bits, now because I feel my best in the gym I want to go even more. Investing time to look after yourself is something I really think is key all year round, but even more so in winter.

Listen to podcasts or music
Whatever you’re interested in, there’s a podcast for you. I absolutely loved listening to At Home With (I’ve heard Anna and Lily are working on another series – YAY!). I recently discovered the podcasts created by Sara Tasker from Me & Orla, and wow, if you’re a blogger or like to share your photos on Instagram you seriously need to give them a listen, I’m already finding them so useful.

If I’m not feeling motivated to go to the gym usually just playing some music gives me some helps. I love using Spotify and creating different playlists for different occasions, I actually enjoy going to the gym because I get to listen to all of my favourite songs – it’s the little things isn’t it!? 

Have a digital detox
I did this recently, and it made me realise there is more to life than just sitting and scrolling, not only that but I want to limit the amount of time I spend infront of a screen. It can be so refreshing and motivating to take some time out to reflect on things. I think especially in the winter because we have the tendency to stay indoors even more, I’m making more of an effort to wrap up warm and get out.
