For me Glossier coming to the UK was the most exciting beauty news of the year, it’s my kinda brand and that packaging – well it’s so aesthetically pleasing isn’t it?!
I picked up 3 things as soon as they first launched, and after trying the products for around 2 months I thought I would report back and let you know whether it lived up to my expectations… PLUS, Glossier currently have 20% off and free shipping, so y’alll know.
At the start of September I had a skincare consultation and was advised to switch to a gel based cleanser, and straight away the Milky Jelly Cleanser sprung to mind. It’s a relatively thick gel formula that works absolute wonders at cleansing the skin without leaving it feeling tight, which was one of my worries. I use two pumps and spend around a minute massaging it into my skin, and then I follow with a facial cleansing brush in the evening. This has really helped to clear up the breakouts I had going on all around my chin, it keeps my skin happy and I’m definitely going to be repurchasing the cleanser.
The next product I was desperate to get hold of is the Boy Brow, I was already a massive fan of the Benefit Gimme Brow and Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brow so it made sense to try a more affordable alternative everyones been raving about. Out of all the brow tamers/ mascaras I’ve tried, it’s by far the best! I decided to get mine in brown, but they also do a clear version and a couple of other shades. This just manages to coat the brows without them flaking or looking caked in product, my brows look naturally thick and full which is exactly what I like. It contains Beeswax and Carnauba Wax which is what allows the brows to stay in place without being stiff – genius!
Lastly I ended up getting the Birthday Balm Dotcom Skin and Lip Balm and this is the one product that just hasn’t lived up to the hype for me. Yes it smells amazing and looks nice on the lips, but I don’t find it to be all that moisturising, and for this time of year it hasn’t taken the place of my nourishing lip balms. It’s a shame because I love the packaging, the scent (It’s Milk Bar scented, so it smells like cake), and the way it looks on the lips – but there’s just nothing special about it so I won’t be repurchasing!
Overall I do think Glossier is worth the hype, and I can’t wait to try more. I do have some other Glossier bits on my wishlist. Firstly I need another milky jelly cleanser – it’s become my HG! And I really want to try the Generation G lipstick in cake, it looks like a gorgeous nude and a dupe for my beloved Armani Beauty lipstick in 101. I’m hearing tons of good things about their masks and serums too, in particular Super Pure which is a serum suitable for redness and blemishes.
The lovely Imii inspired me with this post after I read her thoughts on Glossier here.
