Long gone are the days a makeup bag is enough space to house all of the makeup I own. Over the years so many of the beauty bits I have just sat and collected dust, with only 1 face a lot of it just wasn’t getting used. I recently decided to have a clear out and update my storage which has sparked up the old love I had for makeup…
My makeup now lives in this, very blogger acrylic draw set from TheClutterBox*. Honestly I never understood the hype with these and didn’t think it would make much difference, then I saw Anna from TheAnnaEdit mention how she keeps all of her everyday makeup staples in one and it just looked so convenient/ easy to use – I was convinced! DRAWER
A lot of the acrylic drawers I had previously seen looked flimsy and just didn’t seem worth the money, but TheClutterBox is so strudy and heavy it’s like another piece of furniture, and more of a luxurious way to store my makeup rather than just having it in tubs in a drawer (my old storage method). I tend to switch up what I store on top of it, at the moment I’ve just got my makeup brushes and makeup bag.
What I love about storing my makeup like this is that I can see everything, I’ve rediscovered so many old favourites and I never forget to contour/ highlight now because it’s right there infront of me (anyone else always forget about those steps?). In the top draw I keep my most used base products – foundation, concealer, powder, blusher, highlighter, it’s all in there! I do have other base products in a separate drawer that I use more in the winter months, so I’m sure this will look a little different in a month or two.
I think my favourite drawer has to be where all my lipsticks are. Honestly so far this year I really haven’t been adventurous but I’m looking forward to autumn so I can whip out all the deep red/ mauve shades. I’m definitely more likely to wear colour in the colder months as I just love a good berry toned lip. Also, I never have to hunt through my MAC lipsticks again with them stored like this.
Down from the lip drawer is where I keep my single eyeshadows/ shadow crayons, mascaras and brow products. Another good thing about this storage is the handy dividers it comes with, which means you can customise the drawers and make them as big or as small as you need them, keeping everything super organised. It also means if your collection isn’t too big you can store different things in different drawers like I do.
The bottom drawer is bigger than the other 3 making it the perfect place to store my palettes. I also keep my other highlighters/ cheek products in here too as it’s pretty roomy. For something that looks quite small it does store so much more than I thought it would and makes a bigger makeup collection so much more manageable.
Since having this I really don’t think I could go back to being unorganised with my makeup – now to tackle the skincare…
