Something I’ve actively tried to improve over the years is my self confidence, accepting things I can’t change about myself and embracing them, and learning not to care what others think…
Growing up I remember constantly comparing how I looked/ acted to others, turning everything into a negative when really I could have taken a positive spin on it. For me self love and confidence coincide, when I’ve felt good about myself I’m also more confident and step out of my comfort zone, which of-course is a massive positive.
Self love doesn’t just boil down to looks either. I’ve always been quite a loud person, I’m definitely a lot more reserved than I used to be but when I was younger I would tell myself that I needed to be quiet and change my personality. Now, I just embrace it, after all the world really does need a mixture of different personalities.
Since being more accepting of myself and who I am a lot has changed. I’ve had the confidence to do so many things that before I wouldn’t have dared… Turn up to blogging events on my own, taking outfit photos in the street. It’s these small things that have ultimately improved my life and given me more opportunities, all because I decided to accept and be grateful of who I am, what I look like and forgetting about the opinions of those that don’t matter to me.
I feel like now it’s harder to love yourself more than ever, it’s a challenge not to get caught up with everything that happens on social media and doubt your worth. I always try to remember that Instagram is the best bits, I know mine certainly is anyway. Being a blogger it’s hard not to compare and question whether your content is good enough, I know I’ve definitely has cases of this. Instead of feeling down I’ve decided to be proud of my content and just work harder to learn more and improve.
The take home message from this is that everyone has things that they don’t really like about themselves, but those things are amazing. If everyone was the same we would live in a pretty boring place. Don’t let your insecurities hold you back, embrace them and be proud to be you.
