Although my wedding is still 10 months away, I’ve been keen to start preparing early to make sure I look and feel the best possible when it comes to be big day/ honeymoon period.
Some of the initial changes I’ve made have been to my fitness and eating habits. Fitness wise I’ve been going to the gym on and off for around 3 years now, but since Christmas I’ve been going to a class called Body Pump most weeks and going to the gym 2/3 times a week alongside that. I think fitness classes have been the key to me starting to enjoy fitness, and I’ve learnt new workouts/ exercises to do when I go to the gym alone.
Eating wise is where I struggle, I don’t just have a sweet tooth, I have a tooth for anything… My main meals are usually pretty good, but it’s snacking that’s my downfall! I’ve started substituting my usual bag of Malteasers for things like fruit teas or a naked bar, I’m not cutting out chocolate because that just doesn’t work for me, but I’m making small and steady changes towards a healthy diet. My main motivator for this is my skin, I want to be glowing on my wedding day!
I’ve picked up some books that have definitely helped keep me on track with eating better and stay motivated. Eat Smart by Niomi Smart is probably my favourite out of all of them. I love the easy recipes and her philosophy towards eating and food, no calorie counting just nutritional meals.
Moving onto some beauty changes. In terms of skincare I’ve been introducing more oil based products into my routine to keep my skin as hydrated as possible. A new range I’ve been absolutely loving is the Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula skincare. The cleansing oil is so nourishing and doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or my pores clogged. After rinsing that I have been using a toner then applying a thin layer of the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. At first I didn’t think I was seeing any changes with this but it’s one of those skincare products that seems to give you the results after 2-3 weeks of use, my skin is definetely looking and feeling more hydrated since introducing it into my routine – and it’s an absolute bargain for £6!
The Palmers Skin Perfecting Day Cream has been my daily moisturiser of choice at the moment, at first I was shocked by how thick the consistency was but it does sink into the skin quickly and leave it looking and feeling soft and nourished. My makeup applies well over the top and its giving my skin the hydration boost it needs throughout the day.
Other than skincare I’ve already been thinking about the colour I want my hair to be for the day. I was bright blonde for quite a few years but I think I’ve decided I want a more natural colour for the day. I’m going to the hairdressers next week, I’ll be having a good few inches cut off and toning down the blonde at the ends again. I also have a brow appointment on Tuesday, I’ve been growing them out for about a month now so they’re due some serious TLC. I’ve never been someone who has their brows done professionally so I’m looking forward to hopefully achieving a better shape.
Of-course when it gets to around a month before the wedding there will be plenty more changes and treatments, I’m thinking that a facial and a massage may be in order!
