Can you believe that we are already more than half way through the year? Nope me either! I haven’t done a favourites post in a while, so I thought I would go through some of my most loved beauty buys of the year so far…
I’ll start with makeup as I feel like 2017 has been a really good year for new makeup discoveries. One of my first makeup buys this year was the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Light. With it being so pricey I definitely did put it off for a while and wasn’t sure whether it would be worth the hype, but this really has become a holy grail contour for me as nothing else compares. The tone is just right creating a really natural looking contour which actually does add more shape to my cheeks and sculpt the face well.
Moving onto Nars, since picking up the Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Vanilla my other concealers haven’t had a look in. It’s creamy, lightweight and looks incredibly natural whilst still offering a good medium/ full coverage. I find this works well both under my eyes and to cover blemishes – it’s the perfect everyday concealer. Another recent Nars purchase is the Laguna Bronzer, although this does look quite dark in the pan it’s actually a really natural looking bronzer, the powder is super soft and finely milled giving a subtle and believable glow to the skin.
Another base favourite for me has been the Too Faced Hangover Primer. Annoying I’m nearly out of this now as I did purchase it back in February, but I’ve absolutely loved using this pretty much everyday to hydrate and prime my skin ready for makeup. It helps my makeup stay put for longer and gives my skin the hydration it needs for my makeup to sit well and look good – it smells amazing too!
Over the past few months I’ve tested out a fair few mascara’s, both highstreet and high end, but the most impressive has been the L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Baby Roll. I love how much volume and length this gives my lashes without being too clumpy. The formulation isn’t too wet or dry and the brush makes it easy to get right to the root of the lashes. If you haven’t tried this mascara then I would seriously recommend it. Also, little shout out to the Benefit Roller Lash too, I’ve been using it the past week and it’s amazing at lengthening the lashes!
A product that has helped me step up my tanning game this year is the Tan-Luxe Illuminating Face Drops. Adding two drops of this to my evening moisturiser I’m left with an even tan that’s natural looking, doesn’t clog my pores or interfere with my skincare or smell! I love wearing fake tan but I always had the dilemma of my face being pale, this product has filled that gap and is well worth investing in.
Finally, I recently wrote about switching to sulphate free shampoo and Ive recently started using the Pureology Serious Colour Care Shampoo*. This is nourishing, leaves my hair feeling soft and hasn’t been stripping my colour at all. Even my hairdresser said my hair felt thicker and looked in much better condition – winner!
