You know that feeling you get when you find an amazing high street beauty product and it costs less than your weekly caffeine fund? Sometimes the high street beauty brands just get it right and do an even better job than products which are triple the price! Here are my current holy grail drugstore makeup products that I just can’t do my makeup without…
When I want to achieve a natural brow look this is the product I reach for. I have the shade ‘taupe’ and it works perfectly allowing me to add really natural looking hair like strokes to my brows, leaving them darker and more defined without being too over the top. The formulation of this product is perfect and the tiny nib makes filling in brows easy. My only gripe is that this usually lasts around a month and a half, so I’ve already repurchased this around 7 times!
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer £5.99
I picked this up because Feel Unique had 34% off (which they still do) and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. This really is a dupe for the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – if. not. better! It sits on my skin well and is so incredibly pigmented it covers up every blemish and late night easily. I love using this with a beauty blender for a flawless yet non cakey looking finish. The reason I prefer this slightly over the Nars concealer is because it isn’t as drying and doesn’t crease at all under the eyes. A must try for every skin type I think!
Rimmel Only 1 Matte lipsticks* £6.99
I remember how excited I was when Rimmel kindly sent me the whole range of their new lipsticks, and that was before I had tried them! You’ll probably already know the drill with these but the formulation, pigmentation and staying power is just incredible and they have become an everyday go to for me. I have wrote a post including my favourites and lip swatches if you want to see the specifics.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams £5.50
These are as close as I’ll go to wearing a liquid lipstick. I’ve tried so many different liquid lipstick formulations and I’ve just come to the conclusion that they don’t work for me. However, I really don’t feel like I’m missing out having these in my collection. They dry down to a beautiful matte finish without being at all drying or showing up every crack in my lips and every shade I’ve tried lasts a good 6-7 hours before needing a touch up! I’m so impressed with the formulation of these and I now have over 10 in my collection… Whoops!
L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara £10.99
This is one of those products I regret not trying sooner. I love L’Oreal mascara’s in general but most leave my lashes looking too clumpy and over done for everyday, but this mascara manages to add length and subtle volume. My lashes look the same when I come to take my makeup off in the evening as they did when I left the house in the morning. I love using this in conjunction with a more volumising mascara when I want a more dramatic look. I’ve never had any issues with smudging throughout the day and a tube lasts me a good 3 months even using it every day.
Crown Pure Exposed Eyeshadow Palette* £19.99
A more recent addition to my collection is this beautiful palette from Crown, yes it is another dupe for a certain palette from a certain highend brand… However, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this for the first time, the shadows are nicely pigmented, long lasting and fall out was minimal. I’ll be honest, formulation wise it isn’t quite as spectacular as Urban Decay in my opinion, although for half the price it has definitely filled a gap in my collection and I’m not too fussed about picking up the Naked 2 anymore. The shade selection makes this palette perfect for day time and evening makeup and I’ve really enjoyed using it over the past month.
