Autumn Skincare Routine

With the change of season comes a change of skincare...

At the start of this year I vowed to take better care of my skin, I have to say it was one of the best decisions I've made. I have oily skin that tends to become dehydrated over the cooler months, so my main priority is to ensure my skin is cleansed without being stripped of moisture. Over the past month I have made some changes to my skincare routine to match the change in season - so far, so good!

CLEANSE

Cleansing is a really important step for me - without a good cleanse, my skin causes havoc! To remove the first layer of makeup and my eye makeup, I like to use the Garner Micellar Cleansing Water. I don't class this as a cleanser at all, but it's nice to get most of my makeup off before I properly clean my skin. Out of all the cleansing waters I've tried, this is by far my favourite.

For years I used the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and I was pretty smitten with that, but back in September I started using the Kiehl's Calendula Foaming Facial Wash and it has become my new go to! Don't let foaming put you off, this cleanser balances the skin without leaving it feeling tight or stripped. My skin is producing no where near as much oil as it used to since using this, if you struggle with oily skin it's a must try!

For a long time I had small, under the skin spots/ bumps that just wouldn't shift. I tried everything from targeted spot treatments and double cleansing, but the only thing that has finally got rid of them is using the Magnitone BareFaced Daily Cleansing Brush. I use this morning and night combined with the Kiehl's facial wash, and now I just can't be without this little combo. My skin feels so much softer, and the best thing for me is how much clearer my skin looks. Over the past two years I started to notice enlarged pores and blackheads around my nose, and they are finally starting to clear and are definetly less noticeable. I just can't get over how much of a deep cleanse this product allows me to have, it's like a mini facial morning and night! It is gentle, easy to use and a welcomed addition to my routine. If anyone wants a more indepth review then let me know, I can confidently say the Magnitone is well worth the investment.

TREAT

The Roger & Gallet Aura Mirabilis Beauty Vinegar is the next step in my routine. I pop a small amount on to a cotton pad and apply this all over my face, concentrating on my t-zone. This is a really refreshing step making it the perfect pick me up for the darker mornings (when all I want to do is crawl back into bed). In terms of the skin benefits this tightens pores and helps to eliminate dead cells - I don't think my routine will go without some sort of toner after using this.

ADD MOISTURE

My previous moisturiser just wasn't cutting it with the colder weather, so I have switched to using the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oxygenating Gel Cream. Philosophy is a brand I have raved about before, and I love the idea behind their new range. At the minute I am working full time, doing a little freelance work and trying to blog too, so I'm pretty busy - the take a deep breath range aims to help dull and tired looking skin become more radiant and hydrated. This gel cream is creamy and luxurious feeling without being too heavy for my oily skin or clogging my pores. I have been using this morning and night for the past few weeks and I'm seriously impressed.

I have been wanting to introduce a eye cream into my routine for a while now, but I just didn't know which to go for. I have been using the Take a Deep Breath Oxygenating Eye gel cream and I'm actually shocked by the results. Not only does my eye area look brighter, but my concealer has never looked as good or lasted as well as it does now. Seeing the visual improvements from this product has made me realise how dark and tired looking my eyes used to be.

These are the skincare bits I am using both morning and night this Autumn, throughout the week I will also use a face mask and some other treatments which I will be posting about soon... But these are the staples that are saving my skin whilst the weather turns colder!

Have you made your skincare changes for Autumn yet?

  10. That eye cream sounds incredible! I introduced an eye cream to my routine a few months ago and now I hate going without it. My eyes feel so droopy and look so dark without using one. I am using Clinique's at the moment :) xx
