Champagne Diamonds...

I have been wanting to expand my Charlotte Tilbury collection for a while now, I am forever lusting after basically everything I see, so when I finally got my hands on this I was pretty happy. I have been after a shadow that would work perfectly as a base or one its own as a wash of colour over the lids, and when I saw Champagne Diamonds I knew I needed it.

I don't know whether it's because I'm planning my wedding, but this shade really got me thinking about my wedding makeup. On my lids this translates as a glittery pearly gold shade, it has a glamorous finish about it because of the glitter that definitely isn't something I would go for on a day to day basis, but for a special occasion or a night out it is a gorgeous shade worn either alone or as a base. This is said to be perfect for blue eyes, but I think this sort of shade is a staple for anyone's collection, regardless of eye colour.

In terms of the formulation and longevity, this works alot better on bare lids or on top of a small amount of eye shadow primer. Over the top of a MAC paint pot the product started to stick in certain areas and clump. I really hate to say it as I usually love CT products, but this lacks the creamy formulation I would expect from a £19 eyeshadow stick. This doesn't glide across the lids aswel as it could, however I will say it does manage to last all day without creasing, which might be due to the drier formulation. When applying eye shadow on top I do find it more difficult to blend them out, so I tend to just use this in the inner corner if I'm using it as part of a makeup look rather than on its own.

Another disappointment with this is the packaging, the lid doesn't stay on and ends up popping off and then damaging the product, and the pencil doesn't sharpen too well. I'm actually scared to sharpen this again as I ended up butchering it last time, as a perfectionist this is more annoying than you would think.

Will I be repurchasing the sticks in any other shades? Probably not.. But I will still use this and try to get on with it as much as I can. Gorgeous shade, just a shame about formulation and packaging.

  1. Quite a let down considering the price of the sticks but at least it doesn't crease which is my biggest pet hate! thanks for the review.

  2. I've heard a lot of negative reviews on this one which is so disappointing! It looks like such a pretty eye shadow.

  3. I really appreciate how honest you were in this post! I have been debating trying one of these, but after reading this I'm not sure it'll be worth the £19.

  5. I have one of these, can't remember the name but it's a darker copper shade and I love the colour, but agree with you that it's quite hard work. It takes a lot of blending, but once it's on it doesn't budge which I think is the compromise.

I love the look of this one, looks so pretty!

  6. Probably won't purchase this as it is expensive at £19 & I hate pencils that don't sharpen well. It's such a gorgeous shade though and looks so pretty on the eyes! x

  7. charlotte tilbury just does make up so right and i wish i had every single product of her. the colour of this eye pencil is very beautiful but i have to say that my lip liner caps don't shut well either and i have no idea why. they either fall off or break when i try to shut them really tight...not nice.

  9. I'm glad Im not the only one disappointed but this pencil, I find the glitter so chunky, it's painful when it comes to remove it and don't get me started with the lid, they pop off all the time, so annoying! That being said, the shade Amber ???? something is lovely, even though it still has the lid problem :)
